9 people are claiming to have receipts for the domain name aweso.me.
-
GoDaddy confirmed with me that most of the .ME’s were registered within the first few minutes, hence the massive FAIL later on
-
Now I see domains we “bought” on the auction list at https://auctions.domain.me/. Here is the suspicious part. When I enter a domain I did buy successfully I see Whois data. But when you enter domains from the auction list there is no Whois data.
-
If GoDaddy is diligently deciding which honest customer should get txt.me amongst many orders, then why is it up for auction?
-
You send a new contact’s email address via SMS to DropCard. DropCard then immediately sends the person your contact information including social network profiles, name, email, etc
How GoDaddy stole a domain from .me
Minutes after the .me land rush started I purchased 8 domains from godaddy.com, you can see my receipt for txt.me here:
The txt.me domain did not show up in my godaddy account nor does it have a WHOIS entry. From GoDaddy’s support email it would seem that due to being unprepared they are sorting out my order against other orders for the same domain:
If GoDaddy is diligently deciding which honest customer should get txt.me amongst many orders, then why is it up for auction at https://auctions.domain.me/default.aspx :
*8:00pm Update*: GoDaddy customer service just called me to explain that many people had tried to get txt.me at the same time and their servers were not able to handle the load and then gave false positives on registration. I asked him if that was the case then why was Montenegro auctioning off txt.me? He suggested that whoever beat me to txt.me had put it up for auction at https://auctions.domain.me/default.aspx. He then explained that I was not eligible to register for https://auctions.domain.me/default.aspx to bid on txt.me
The GoDaddy rep could not explain why someone would be so SMART as to register txt.me immediately when .me’s went on sale and SMART enough to somehow get Montenegro to sell his domain but DUMB enough to auction it on a site that no one could join for bidding.
The GoDaddy rep also could not explain while txt.me doesn’t have a WHOIS record yet but a domain which I bought hours later does.
