Talking to the developers of all of the alternative VM’s you can’t help but to feel excited about the future of Ruby. There is a clear pattern emerging: using Ruby to go beyond Ruby, and as a bridge to other communities. Halfway through RubyConf, it is a clear theme here as well – several serialization talks, code generation, and an entire evening of presentations on all the Ruby VM’s.
