The Real Reason Outsourcing Continues To Fail | Lessons of Failure

Adding those 6 factors up, 72% of project failure reasons can be connected to PDI differential. If both sides understood that single factor going in to the process, everyone would be better served in the end. Think I’m just making this all up? It’s not just the buyers that complain. High PDI country providers say the same things.

So what’s so hard about outsourcing? It’s hard because of the cultural baggage we bring to the table on both sides, and neither side necessarily realizes it because of assumed interactions. We need to be more aware of the cultural assumptions going in to projects like this, or we’re doomed to repeat them ad absurdum.

To write this piece, we cataloged over 7,000 photographs on OkCupid.com, analyzing three primary things:

* Facial Attitude. Is the person smiling? Staring straight ahead? Doing that flirty lip-pursing thing?
* Photo Context. Is there alcohol? Is there a pet? Is the photo outdoors? Is it in a bedroom?
* Skin. How much skin is the person showing? How much face? How much breasts? How much ripped abs?

28 Rich Data Visualization Tools – InsideRIA

We’re currently working with a dozen different clients, all web application (re)designs. All of these clients have data rich applications and need equally rich data visualizations to help their end customers analyze data quickly and effectively.

What makes my job really interesting is that these clients are in different industries and are using different technologies. So we have pulled together a set of 28 tools for creating graphs, Gantt charts, diagrammers, calendars/schedulers, gauges, mapping, pivot tables, OLAP cubes, and sparklines, in Flash, Flex, Ajax or Silverlight.
