The on-demand PSAT and SAT training course (ordinarily available for $99, Cablevision said) is being offered online by Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions. In conjunction with the promotion, Cablevision said it had also produced a television series for its MSG Varsity channel, “Prepare for the Next Level,” that is “designed to help high school students and their families prepare for the college application process.” The first episode is scheduled to be shown Friday.

SAT How the Test Is Scored

First, your raw score is calculated. This is the number of points you earned, based on the number of questions you answered correctly, minus a fraction of the number answered incorrectly. Questions you skipped are not counted and no points are subtracted for incorrect Student Produced Response mathematics questions (grid-ins) on the SAT.

The Princeton Review / Student SAT Challenge

The SAT Parent Challenge is a 12-question quiz created to give parents the opportunity to test their academic acumen, and to experience—if only for 15 minutes—some of the challenges your kids will face when they take the actual, nearly four-hour SAT college entrance exam. Just as importantly, we hope it will serve as a tool you can use to encourage your children to prepare for these tests (“If you do it, I’ll do it”), and introduce them to effective techniques to score their best on college admissions exams.
