Alternative title for this article could be “A list of features where Silverlight is equivalent-to or better-than Flex”. I wish Tom Lauck would’ve spent some time on what Flex developers lose by moving to Silverlight and not just on what they gain.

I’ve gotten some feedback from customers that they have pressure from their management to create Silverlight apps that look very visually appealing, but these customers, who are primarily developers, lack the tools, design skills or time to put together these kinds of applications. Let me recommend the themes that ship as part of the Silverlight Toolkit as a solution to this problem. I am really impressed with how great these themes look and most importantly, how easy they are to use.

Q: What did you see in Flash that impressed you?
Bowman: You see several things. You see a high-grade product that’s in some form on 99 percent of the browsers. You’ve got something that’s got mass usage. Secondly you see with Adobe a company committed to the customer experience in video with the Flash Player. We see a partner that continues to invest in their product. They have the same desire that we do. They want the Flash Player to be the best thing anybody has ever seen and we want that. When you partner with people like that, it’s not a philosophical discussion. We know where we want to be now how do we get there.
