Red Hat has the advantage of a culture, a product and service set, and a means of engaging customers and external partners that are aligned. This degree of alignment may be much more difficult for other companies to realize, but many companies would gain mightily by fostering a transformation akin to the one that Whitehurst found he needed to make personally.
